Main task

DBC’s main task is to develop and maintain the bibliographic and IT-infrastructure in Danish libraries by:

• Producing the Danish National Bibliography and user oriented cataloguing
• Developing and maintaining Dan*Bib as Union Catalog for public, educational and academic libraries as part of an automated ILL
• Developing and maintaining library.dk as the common access for citizens to Danish publications and Danish library holdings.

Open source and service oriented architecture

Our professional expertise is rooted in a unique combination of technical know-how with regard to both libraries and IT, enabling us to understand and satisfy our customers.

DBC’s IT systems are based on open source and serviceoriented architecture which can be reused locally and thereby minimize waste of resources and risks in projects.

DBC participate in TING Concept communityl, an open source community for libraries and their vendors.

Developing competencies in partnerships

DBC is a guarantee for public service of high quality for the libraries, and the purpose of DBC’s solutions is to contribute to efficiency and productivity in the Danish libraries.

DBC aims at developing competencies on an international level through partnerships, which can contribute to our national solutions.

There is a demand for services, developed in the national IT solutions from Danish and international libraries and vendors, who want to complete and enrich their products. DBC therefore join in vendor partnerships to meet this demand.
